Preparing for Eternity

Preparing for Eternity

This website is an ongoing project of the old historic Baptist theology: The Berean Bible Heritage Church. Here are some of the departments:

The Auction of Your Soul

Men of God who stand up and clearly explain what is right and why, and what is wrong and why are hard to find. The Auction of Your Soul is the many sermon files of J.E. Conant, an evangelist that traveled this country and challenged Christians to turn from their wicked ways and live! He was a close friend to A.T. Pierson, F.B. Meyer, and R.A. Torrey at Moody, and a radio preacher on the Moody Bible broadcast. His books on evangelism continue to be used as textbooks today.

This department is in the process of having the files added to it daily. It is expected to take a couple years at least to complete. In the mean while, enjoy the content that is already there!

The Bible Says It

Preparing for Eternity is pleased to announce the first of several new departments in current development! This link takes you to The Bible Says It!

Society has become very self-centered and self oriented, and Christianity has followed the same suit. This is extremely unfortunate because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. The creature cannot turn to his Creator and Him the terms of worship and obedience. Yet that is the attitude that so-called Christians have towards God.

The Holy Scriptures were given to us, who are saints of God, so that we will know all there is for us to know about God and how to behave in this world. Our actions and thoughts are evaluated against God's holy words to see if we measure up or not. Accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior enables us to have the Holy Spirit to guide and teach us God's ways according to God's book.

This module has been used by Pastor Clinton Macomber throughout his ministry, being first formally organized in preparation for his ordination. By making it available publicly, it is hoped it will serve as a handy guide to others who want to follow the Scriptures as they prepare for eternity.

Hymn Stories

Each week we try to add some information about a hymn that we sing. These are indexed by hymn name, and author/composer’s name. The dates are also indexed in the “On this Day God Has Made” department by calendar year and last name.

On This Day God Has Made

Each Sunday we offer a segment that tells what has happened in Biblical and Christian history. These are added and indexed by event or person’s name and calendar day.

Songs of Prayer

Pastor is doing a series going through the book of Psalms. Each Psalm is presented with an outline, study notes, daily devotional, topic study, devotional, puzzle, and other features. The latest are included.

Site Helps

Bible students need to have a means to quickly view Bible verses that are mentioned, where they are found, be they in documents, webpages, etc. Wordsearch has a free program that does this better than all the others! If you do not have this module, please install it!

Reconstruction Efforts:

We are currently reconstructing the older pages of this site. Since it is a rather large site, this is going to take some time, as it has to be done in our spare moments. Please bear with us! If there are features you miss, and would like moved ahead of others, just let us know! We would be glad to hear from our many readers! Thank you and may you find God's richest blessing!

Why the Name?

This is a site for those who love God, and love the Word of God and are determined to follow the Lord Jesus in everything so that they will be ready for the work God has for them to do for all eternity. Heaven is not going to be the riding of a cloud while plucking some harp. It is the Kingdom of Heaven, and involve the ruling of many kings and priests. Our only chance to apprentice for this opportunity is to learn to closely follow the Lord and remain faithful in everything that is sent our way.

John the Baptist had a simple but profound message:

Matthew 3:1-2 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Jesus took the message and expanded upon it.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Peter took up the message after the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Paul expressed the idea in this way:

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

The sons of Zebudee's mother asked for her boys to sit on thrones on either side of the Lord Jesus. His reply is that they needed to prove they were able, but the Father has a place for them.

Matthew 20:20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.

The great leaders in heaven fall down in worship and say:

Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
