Dangerous Existence

Isaiah 24:17 presents a very real picture of the dangers of living after major catastrophes in areas where mankind has lived. Cities especially are filled with dangerous traps, sink holes from all the underground passageways and sewer systems. The rubble left behind is a maze of death traps. After a major disaster, the survivors have to get about to find food and shelter, but the process takes their lives, especially when they are lone survivors.

Before the Savior of the World can come with his mighty saints, the world is going to be devastated. The world socialist system is going to destroy much of the world’s production industry, and it is also going to destroy city maintenance and repair systems. The “natural” disasters of the world wide fires and earthquakes will destroy the rest that is left from the world-wide plunder of a world wide government system.

The few that survive the holocaust of this world are going to find life very precarious. There are numbers of things to be alert and aware of, in a time when a person is famished, weak, wounded and in very poor condition. As they emerge from the rubbles that held them, they will be confronted by the remains of a thousand death traps. Areas they enter will be unstable and ready to fall on them in an instant. The ground they walk on could give way at any moment to the chambers below and trap them there.

The verse begins with the terror that overcomes people that still remain alive. They will be very easily spooked and overwhelmed with fear. Anything could spell the end of their lives and they know it. They will be very careful when they move, watching for anything that might be a threat to their safety and survival. Only God will be able to help them, since living on earth has become so dangerous.

An area not mentioned in this verse is the state of animals. They too will be dangerous and in danger.

In this state of precariousness, where life is hanging on by a thread, people will finally be ready to glorify God and beg for his help, the world over. There will be a revival, but only after the world and its systems are completely trashed and destroyed. All hope of mankind being able to wage a war against God must be removed before mankind will turn to Him for help. It is amazing how stubborn mankind is when it comes to that which is right and holy. It is a shame that God has to let things get so terribly bad before He can be accepted for who He is.

Accept God today, and don’t wait to the bitter end when things will get this bad!

God’s Clearing of the Earth

Isaiah 24:1 talks about how God is going to clear off the earth on His Day! The terms have been translated in the terms of one who loves the world, the buildings, the people, the temples, the immoral artwork, the general glitter and glamour of amusements and entertainments.

But there is a holy and pure view of such things and the way things are today cannot be left with a pure and holy society. They must go! The filth and immorality of mankind have polluted the earth, the ground, the waters, the seas, and the atmosphere. The skies are filled with useless debris that governments and mega-businesses use in all kinds of evil snooping and entertaining.

So, God announces that He is going to empty things out! He is simply going to clear away the detritus and pollution so that there will be a fresh and clean earth on which to build a proper way of life.

The first action word of “laid waste” is actually to empty something out. It is to take the contents of something and dispose of it, or pour it away. It is similar to taking some kind of awful drink and flushing it down the toilet. It is the purging of the earth of everything so that it is fresh and clean and ready for use.

The next action is that of making it “waste” or open. It is the removal of all the clutter that abounds on the earth so that it is open and cleared of junk. It is speaking of the removal of the buildings and contents as well as the huge expanses of buildings and clutter that mankind puts on the earth and covers the land. We make the best of soils useless by covering it up and hiding it under monstrosities. The land needs a complete clearing by God so that mankind can begin to live as He desires in an uncluttered, calm, quiet and holy atmosphere, free of immorality, temptations of every type and endless attempts at programming and brainwashing that goes on all the time in a city.

The next action is to twist the surface and distort it so that it does not have the old landmarks and buried filth of this world. The earth had one huge upheaval in Noah’s day that turned the earth upside down and crushed almost all evidence of the world before the Flood of Noah. God will do this again, removing the foundations that have been dug and uprooting the diggings and underground systems that exist. God will in essence plow up the world and plow under the cities so that they are no longer around to be found.

Then the last action will be to scatter away the people that lived in an area. The worst thing that could be done is to allow a civilization to rebuild. Evil kingdoms of the past have been destroyed for the good of all mankind. Usually their own depravity brings on plagues and a lack of an ability to withstand attacks of all kinds. This leaves them susceptible to destruction, but the ruins entice stupid people to try to rebuild the old gross societies and once again establish that which God destroyed. God will not only turn the land upside down and inside out, but He will drive the few survivors away from the area, so they have to become established in a new areas, without the cohesion and support that mankind tends toward from the times of Cain and then the Tower of Babel.

So it is not so much that God is going to destroy everything, but the words indicate He is going to open things up and clear away the junk that we are surrounded with everywhere! Sure, if you love the filth of this world, you would call it ruined and lost, but if you love God and want the best for mankind, you will call it opened up and cleared away! You will call it fresh and clean. You will call it a new heaven and a new earth!
