God’s Clearing of the Earth

Isaiah 24:1 talks about how God is going to clear off the earth on His Day! The terms have been translated in the terms of one who loves the world, the buildings, the people, the temples, the immoral artwork, the general glitter and glamour of amusements and entertainments.

But there is a holy and pure view of such things and the way things are today cannot be left with a pure and holy society. They must go! The filth and immorality of mankind have polluted the earth, the ground, the waters, the seas, and the atmosphere. The skies are filled with useless debris that governments and mega-businesses use in all kinds of evil snooping and entertaining.

So, God announces that He is going to empty things out! He is simply going to clear away the detritus and pollution so that there will be a fresh and clean earth on which to build a proper way of life.

The first action word of “laid waste” is actually to empty something out. It is to take the contents of something and dispose of it, or pour it away. It is similar to taking some kind of awful drink and flushing it down the toilet. It is the purging of the earth of everything so that it is fresh and clean and ready for use.

The next action is that of making it “waste” or open. It is the removal of all the clutter that abounds on the earth so that it is open and cleared of junk. It is speaking of the removal of the buildings and contents as well as the huge expanses of buildings and clutter that mankind puts on the earth and covers the land. We make the best of soils useless by covering it up and hiding it under monstrosities. The land needs a complete clearing by God so that mankind can begin to live as He desires in an uncluttered, calm, quiet and holy atmosphere, free of immorality, temptations of every type and endless attempts at programming and brainwashing that goes on all the time in a city.

The next action is to twist the surface and distort it so that it does not have the old landmarks and buried filth of this world. The earth had one huge upheaval in Noah’s day that turned the earth upside down and crushed almost all evidence of the world before the Flood of Noah. God will do this again, removing the foundations that have been dug and uprooting the diggings and underground systems that exist. God will in essence plow up the world and plow under the cities so that they are no longer around to be found.

Then the last action will be to scatter away the people that lived in an area. The worst thing that could be done is to allow a civilization to rebuild. Evil kingdoms of the past have been destroyed for the good of all mankind. Usually their own depravity brings on plagues and a lack of an ability to withstand attacks of all kinds. This leaves them susceptible to destruction, but the ruins entice stupid people to try to rebuild the old gross societies and once again establish that which God destroyed. God will not only turn the land upside down and inside out, but He will drive the few survivors away from the area, so they have to become established in a new areas, without the cohesion and support that mankind tends toward from the times of Cain and then the Tower of Babel.

So it is not so much that God is going to destroy everything, but the words indicate He is going to open things up and clear away the junk that we are surrounded with everywhere! Sure, if you love the filth of this world, you would call it ruined and lost, but if you love God and want the best for mankind, you will call it opened up and cleared away! You will call it fresh and clean. You will call it a new heaven and a new earth!

Shepherding Wild and Domestic Animals

Isaiah 11:7 has a very interesting meaning. Bears and Cows with young will be shepherded together. They will spend their time together and raise their young together.

This may be the missing element we have in the dairy herds today. Cows are easily spooked and a whole dairy can loose significant amounts of milk if the cows sense something is wrong.

With sheep, we have goats to keep the sheep calm and happy. But with cows, they don’t have any protector today except the shepherd, who is not usually present in a comforting way.

What if the purpose of the bear was to be able to defend the cows and calves, and so are equipped to do so? Perhaps the bear does not want to be a lonely creature, that reacts violently even to humans and is seen as an absolute threat to the farmer today.

When God changes the climate and atmosphere back to where it supports life better, the bear may not be in such a hungry wild state, that it could be herded with calving cows and serve as their protector, keeping other animals away during this precarious time.

The last phrase is the most telling. The lion will eat the silage that plow oxen eat. Instead of seeking meat, they will eat high protein cattle feed! This means that not only their natures will be changed, but their nutritional needs and digestive system will return to its previous function on handling vegetation.

Sorry farmer! The dream of having lions pulling plows is not part of the picture! But, how about an animal that stands by your plow ox and protects him, keeping him from being picked on by other animals? How about an animal that loves to comb and clean your oxen’s hide? How about an animal that loves the oxen that likes to play with them, and keep them active and happy? Wouldn’t that be a big asset to a farm?

Now offer the same kind of care and concern to the mother cow. Let her hide be licked with the bear’s tongue. Let her ears be scratched with the smaller claws of a friendly bear.  Let the bugs be kept at bay by a bear! Also have a bear to make sure the calf does not stray too far from its mother, and is kept from dangerous areas. What farmer would not mind feeding an extra animal that offers all that to his cows? Fencing would probably not be needed after a while. Vet bills would become a thing almost of the past. Farmers would be able to sleep better at night and spend less time fussing over trivial matters during the day.

So what are we waiting for? If you are waiting for the government to force this to happen, you will never survive as a farmer, because the government simply cannot figure out the problem of predation today. They want to think that the wildest and most dangerous animal is actually a harmless creature forced to be evil. As long and officials live in a dream world, they will never be of benefit. God, however, created all animals and knows their true nature and what the reasons were each was created. He can easily change things back to His plan. All He needs is for those created in His image (mankind) to turn and embrace Him completely. The rest will follow. But just as we cannot remove the wild and dangerous nature from the wild animals, we cannot change the heart of ungodly politicians. Both need to be removed from society for it to prosper in this day and age!
