Sailor Lifestyle Condemned

Today’s verse is Isaiah 23:4 which is badly translated, glossing over the potent condemnation of the life of sailors. Specifically, the port city of Sidon will be brought to utmost shame and ruin, as the fortress of the sea condemns the port for not promoting family morality.

The life of a sailor has historically been one of gross immorality and anti-family morals. Not only is the man of the house gone (and now women) and temptation to do wrong the norm among peers, but those at home are tempted to violate marriage and morals. God designed that a family be made of a woman and man working in harmony following His Word, and children experiencing the promotion of high moral values like virginity, education, sharp mental acuity, and clean moral values and manners. With either the man or woman being away, this will not happen properly. There will be distortions and lack of balance in the home.

Specifically condemned is the fact that sailors are not there when childbirth happens. Childbirth is a long process that starts a year before birth (and longer), and becomes more intense after pregnancy. Things culminate with the painful birth process for the couple, which is followed by months of sleepless nights and worry, and intense labor to see the child gets a good start in life. The life of a sailor boycotts this whole process.

Next, a sailors life does not build capable, strong, ethical, moral young men. It builds the opposite. Boys enamored with the sea spurn education, moral values, honor of authority, dignified demeanor and conduct, and above all, God. Living at sea does not produce sound, great young men.

Next, a sailor’s life does not promote virginity, and high feminine values among girls. Instead it promotes prostitution, alcoholism, promiscuity, and everything contrary to an elevated and honored woman. Girls instead are demeaned and nothing more than sex toys, and feminism is promoted rather than godly womanhood, and motherhood.

The result of a life that is dependent on the sea is a broken down town, where crime and corruption is rampant, and where children are not raised, but instead left to their own devises or the controls of a government that will not discipline or allow proper familial love to be applied. The end result is a lawless and deadly zone that has to be completely obliterated to preserve human life and dignity.

It is interesting to note that the great sea fortresses are the ones that speak this shame on the port. Even today when the ships are actually floating cities with every possible human want supplied, promiscuity reigns supreme even on military ships. Now with women sailing with men, there is no limit to the adultery and broken lives that come from being a sailor, or navy person. Disease and uncleanness abound even on the most “sterile” of ships because of filthy sexual habits of those on board. Then when on land, it pours over like never before in unabated lust and destruction, all enhanced by drugs and alcohol.

God hates the filth that sea living has generated, and will bring an end to it all when the Messiah returns to this earth. Will you be one of those who will die at sea or in port? Flee such a life!

Fathers and Sons Walk with the Same Woman

God states absolutely that God is going to destroy Israel because both father and son travel or walk with the same woman.

Now those that reject the simple plain meaning immediately figure this is adultery. But it does not say that, and it could have.

In Gentile culture, the clear lines of separation are usually ignored between men and women. In both the Old and New Testament men and women are to remain separate. They are never to even see a relative partially naked. Righteous Noah got drunk on the grape juice after the flood and was not properly clothed, so his sons covered him, but took care not to see his nakedness. One did not take pains to not see Noah and he and his family were cursed.

Paul makes no apologies about openly ordering men not to touch any women. He also makes it clear they were not to steal attention by asking questions or giving answers in a church service. They were to be silent and only talk to their husband in private later about questions or opinions.

Early churches even as late as those in this country, would carefully separate men and women during times of worship or fellowship. Some went so far as to bury their dead in separate four different areas: male adults, female adults, male children, female children.

Mixing men and women even among children is a huge mistake and in total flagrant opposition to God and His Word. Every excuse made to distort the wording of Scripture or simply ignoring the Bible does not hold up to God and how He will judge our actions.

Many a marriage has come to ruin because of a woman who worked with a man, or a man who worked with a woman. They violated the touching and separation laws of God and brought horrible sin and its penalties on not only themselves but all related to them. The children of this day are the product of these horribly wrong acts of fornication and adultery. and it is no wonder they despise and openly defy all moral stands.

Men, why are you walking the hall with some woman? Women, why are you looking to attract the attention of men? The only means you have of crossing the lines of separation is through marriage, but marriages are to be arranged by parents or uncles, and not by the individuals who frankly cannot make wise choices in this area.

If you do not have parents who can arrange a good marriage for you, or you cannot stand what they decide, then don’t get married. You are only propagating evil in this world instead of stopping it with your own life. God notes this and holds us to His high and holy standard, and as it says, most will find they never accepted Christ as Lord and Master, and it is proven by the sinful deeds they persisted in doing. Ignorance is no excuse for disobedience to God. Everyone of us has a chance to learn the truth by reading the Holy Scriptures and asking God to use the Holy Spirit to guide us.

To see the verse that inspired a very different commentary, see Amos 2:7 in the prophecy guide. Amos has some strong words to say to the different countries we hear about today and why they will be completely destroyed, and even all their citizens.
