Keep, Part 6

This portion is from the Epistles of John. He uses the term several times and in a very spiritual setting.

First, we gain assurance of our knowledge of the Lord Jesus by reverently following His commandments. This is interesting terminology for the greasy grace Christians of today. Yes, the words are “His commandments.” We gain experience in our knowledge of our Savior through total commitment and obedience to His commands. To further frustrate the greasy grace teachers, Christ never taught the overthrow of the Old Testament commandments. They are all for the child of God’s benefit. Not one of them is “ceremonial” or for mystical benefit, but they all are for immediate and practical benefit. But this is just the first reference.
