Trinity

  1. All three recognized as God
    1. By their works
      1. Father, Genesis 1:1
      2. Son, John 1:1-3
      3. Holy Spirit, Genesis 1:2
    2. By their character
      1. Father, I Corinthians 15:24
      2. Son, John 5:18
      3. Holy Spirit, Acts 5:3-4, 9
  2. All three are described in Scripture and we see them as distinct persons, John 1:1, 3; 14:16-18, 26; 16:13-14; Acts 5:3-4.
  3. This tri-personality of divine nature is ontological and eternal.
  4. This tri-personality is not tri-theism for there is but one essence, Deuteronomy 6:4; John 10:30
  5. The 3 persons are equal, Matthew 28:19; I John 5:7; Ephesians 4:4-6
  6. While this doctrine is inscrutable it is not self-contradictory, since this is basic to all other doctrines.
