Tithing

  1. Tithes are given to those who have given their lives to the ministry of God’s blessings and word, Genesis 14:17-20
  2. The tenth of every crop is holy and can only be given to God’s service, Leviticus 27:30
  3. Any wish to buy God’s part is done by adding a fifth (20%) extra to the value, Leviticus 27:31
  4. The tenth animal in a herd is holy to God, Leviticus 27:32
  5. All substitutions require both the original 10th and the exchange to be given to God, Leviticus 27:33
  6. Those set aside to serve God in organizing and leading in worship of God are to depend upon God for their sustenance and living, Numbers 18:20
  7. The tithe was to be given to the Levite as payment for the work they do in the Tabernacle, Numbers 18:21
  8. Non-ordained and commissioned people are not to trespass the holy office of leading in worship, lest they bring guilt upon themselves and die, Numbers 18:22
  9. Only the Levites are authorized eternally to perform the services of the Tabernacle, Numbers 18:23
  10. The increase of crops that come each year are to be tithed, Deuteronomy 14:22

  12. If transportation of goods is inconvenient, then they are sold and the cash used to pay for the purchase of local goods at the place of God, Deuteronomy 14:24-25
  13. Whatever a person wishes to buy to use to celebrate the blessings of God with the tithe of annual crops may be purchased for celebration, Deuteronomy 14:26
  14. This special tithe of annual increase is to be done over and above what the ministers of God receive, Deuteronomy 14:27
  15. A third tithe is offered every third year of all yields, and it is warehoused in the local city, Deuteronomy 14:28
  16. The special third year tithe is for the priests, strangers, orphans, widows who may come and eat till they are full, so God can bless all, Deuteronomy 14:29
  17. Tithes are to be part of a lifestyle of justice, mercy and faith, Matthew 23:23
  18. Tithes are added to our love of God and justice, Luke 11:42
  19. Tithing is not to prove one better than another, Luke 18:12
  20. Giving is laid up on a daily basis so there is no fundraising to be done in worship services, I Corinthians 16:2
  21. Sparse giving to God returns sparse returns, II Corinthians 9:6
  22. Giving is to be done based on a heartfelt decision, II Corinthians 9:7
  23. Giving is a cheerful victory, II Corinthians 9:7
  24. God promises to meet our needs to do an abundance of beneficial work, II Corinthians 9:8
  25. Giving to God enables us to give generously to the poor, II Corinthians 9:9
  26. Honoring God first in giving enables God to increase our fruitfulness, II Corinthians 9:10
  27. Honoring God first in giving causes a personal enrichment that gives others reason to be thankful to God, II Corinthians 9:11
  28. Honoring God first in giving enables the needs of the saints to be met, II Corinthians 9:12
  29. Honoring God first in giving enables the saints to abound in many thanksgivings, II Corinthians 9:12
  30. Honoring God first in giving confesses the gospel of Christ, II Corinthians 9:13
  31. Honoring God first in giving enables liberal sharing of God’s provisions with all people, II Corinthians 9:13
  32. Honoring God first in giving results in many prayers for the giver, because of a deep affection that is brought about by God’s graciousness through the giver, II Corinthians 9:14
  33. Tithes are given to those who have the God-granted power to bless God’s people, Hebrews 7:1
  34. Tithes are given of all things under our custody, nothing is exempted, Hebrews 7:2
  35. Tithes are given to those who belong to God’s holy family, Hebrews 7:3
  36. Tithes pay respect to those who minister for God, Hebrews 7:4
  37. Tithes may go to family members, if they are ordained by God, Hebrews 7:5
  38. Even though Melchisedec was not a Levite, he was a priest to God, so received the tithes from Abraham, Hebrews 7:6
  39. Payment of tithes demonstrates a person’s status to God, Hebrews 7:7
  40. Tithes are collected by human hands that die, yet the benefit is eternal, Hebrews 7:8
  41. Tithes demonstrate subservience of the generations to come, Hebrews 7:9-10
