The Bible Says It

A Topical Bible Dictionary

by Pastor Clinton Macomber

Since the very words of the Scriptures are inspired by God, and are absolutely accurate in everything stated; those who are the saints must know and do all that the Scriptures teach in all areas. So, what does the Bible actually say?

Using the free program, InstaVerse, is a great way to see the Scripture verses, here and in many other places.

Possible reasons why we usually do not practice exorcism today

  1. Exorcism not listed in full armor of God, Ephesians 6:14-18
  2. Demonic activity today has to do with false teaching which produces false living, I Timothy 4:1-6; II Corinthians 10 & 11; James 3:13-18.
  3. Weapons we have been given that could be used: the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12), the Gospel of Christ (I Thessalonians 5:17), and prayer (Romans 1:16) not exorcism specifically.
  4. Sometimes physical or mental illness is confused with demon possession, Matthew 10:1.
  5. Sometimes the works of the flesh are confused with demon possession, Galatians 5:19-23.
  6. Exorcism is not mentioned in the epistles, only in the gospels (a sign to Jews, Mark 16:17-18; I Corinthians 1:22) and transition book of Acts.
  7. If something is doubtful, don’t do it, Romans 14:23.
