Note: The Lord has not put a prohibition on anything that is clean and healthful, but we find that some amusements have done great injury morally and spiritually. A sincere Christian ought to be strong enough to forego such temptations.

  1. Just because it is permissible does not mean it is exemplary, 1 Corinthians 6:12
  2. There are things that need to be foregone to not offend another, 1 Corinthians 8:13
  3. Thanks that appear to be evil must be avoided, 1 Thessalonians 5:22
  4. Christians are called to be different than those of the world, John 15:19
  5. Jesus prays that we join Him in not being part of this world, John 17:16
  6. Things that may weaken or cause another to stumble must be avoided, Romans 14:21
  7. Those that love pleasure will be poor, Proverbs 21:17
  8. The flesh is not to be given allowances to satisfy lust, Romans 13:14
  9. Love of the world causes us to abandon those that need us, 2 Timothy 4:10
  10. The Christian is to be transformed from the world, not conformed, Romans 12:2
  11. Those that love this world do have God’s love in them, 1 John 2:15
  12. God’s people cannot join with the ungodly, 2 Corinthians 6:14
  13. God’s people must choose which master they will serve, Matthew 6:24
  14. Friendship of the world causes us to be enemies of God, James 4:4
